Obama's Plan on Fixing the Economy? Give a Speech.
President Barrack Obama’s job approval rating is sinking. His poll numbers are almost as depressing as the unemployment rate. In truth, Obama has done little to restore America’s economy. The minimal policy he has pushed has been a failure. He has wasted $1,757,200,000,000 on bailouts alone. Obama has spent an average of $585,733,000,000 every year on bailouts alone (see http://www.propublica.org/special/government-bailouts). The consensus is right – Obama is doing something terribly wrong.
I am not writing an article so I can state my disdain for Obama. That’s not really beneficial to anyone. So this article will not focus on (a) the economy is bad or (b) Obama is bad. If you're reading this post, you most likely already agree on those points. So I will give my opinion on what Obama needs to do in his speech and give some predictions on the 2012 election.
Obama was elected because of his incredible charisma and his awe-inspiring ability to communicate to the American people. Those factors got him elected the first time – factors that really won’t help him in the upcoming election. Americans have a growing opinion that the president is not doing enough to advance the nation’s economy. The reason why a lack of legislation has passed, according to Obama, is that any policy proposed by the Democrats is blocked by the Republicans. Thus the reason why legislation in Washington is slow is the Republicans fault – not his. You and I however, know this to be untruthful. This approach may cost Obama the 2012 election.
The only chance Obama’s speech will improve his job approval is if he comes up with a plan... on paper. The way Obama approaches an issue is to hold a speech. Obama will talk about all of this change that he has the ability to make, but can’t make due to those appalling Republicans. Obama will talk of this great America that we, as Americans, can achieve. But that will be it. Simply, a pep talk. Nothing substantial. Think of a football coach that gives an incredible pep talk to his players. The players are pumped out and run onto the field. However; the players are ill-trained, unconditioned and do not have the tools to be a successful team. And at the end of the game, the team loses. Obama is setting us up to lose.
Do not be fooled by Obama’s “pep talk” to Americans. Unless he does something dramatic and bold that shows he really wants to fix the economy, Obama will be a one-term president. So President Obama, give us a plan. Give us a guide to how you will specifically guide us out of this economic mess. If not, the voters will have to turn to candidates that will make good change – not talk of it.
