Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day. Today is the day where we honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. Whether it was paddling across frozen river in the middle of the night in 1776 or storming sandy beaches in France in 1944, men and women have always stood ready to fight to the death to ensure our freedom. Those who are willing to make that sacrifice are the definition of true heroes.

WaPo's Useless Racism Analysis

Obama lost around 40% of the vote in primaries held in Kentucky, Arkansas and West Virginia.  Of course, The Washington Compost posted a story providing useless and utterly inane analysis surrounding the reasons why the president did so poorly as the incumbent candidate.  Chris Cillizza wrote:

that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is that Appalachia and portions of the South — particularly those states without large African American populations — have long been hostile to President Obama.

There are any number of data points that make that point plainly.

During the 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign, Obama lost Kentucky by 35 points and West Virginia by 41(!) points to then Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton even though both states voted late enough in the process that it was already clear Obama would be the nominee.

America's Obsession: The Gay Debate

Over the past few weeks, I've watched as America has once again become fixated on the topic of same sex marriage. It happens at least once a year: The mainstream media decides to throw out this issue in an attempt to make Republicans look like evil, homophobic bigots and to affirm that marriage MUST be a right.

As everyone knows, President Obama recently "evolved" (not to be confused with flip-flopping) on his opinion of same-sex marriage. In an interview with Robin Roberts, Obama said that he found it necessary to validate that he indeed supports gay marriage, after he was against it, then for it, then against it. Yesterday, the Obama campaign released a five minute campaign ad depicting just how supportive Obama has been towards the LGBT community. This ad was of course narrated by none other than Glee star, Jane Lynch:

Compromise Is Overrated

I would like to take some time and educate any liberals, moderates, or conservatives that believe compromise is the only way to solve problems that face our nation. I would venture to say that in many cases, compromise makes things more complicated and less efficient. In most cases, compromising doesn't even accomplish the goals that people are trying to achieve.

I Stand With Manny!

Manny Pacquiao is an amazing fighter who has faced down dozens of opponents to become pretty muchthe best around. So when the man with no fear was asked about his opinion on gay marriage, he gave an honest answer:

"God's words first ... obey God's law first before considering the laws of man," Pacquiao told the (National Conservative) Examiner. "God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married. It should not be of the same sex, so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah."

This is an opinion shared with the majority of people in America, even in my home state of California. But, as you can imagine, liberal/gay activists were enraged that anyone who dare disagree agree with them state their opinion openly. Liberal website Think Progress has joined forces with the Courage Campaign to have Nike to drop its sponsorship of the Pac Man. There, the “Drop Manny” crusade isn’t even based on his quote- it’s based on a quote from Leviticus that the author of the interview put into the piece:

"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Once again, Pacquiao never said this; it was a quote added by the author; however, this is the focal point of their argument to have Nike drop Pacquiao. Let's call this as it is: an attempt to silence another voice of opposition in popular culture. It is an attempt to make anyone with any influence afraid to speak his or her mind so that they can have a monopoly on speech. They have done this before with Tracy Morgan, Vince Vaughn, and others. And, unfortunately, it is bound to continue until we say "enough!".

Sy Rogers: From a homosexual life to leading the crusade on sexual immorality

Homosexuality, and particularly marriage has been thrust back onto the political stage, once again. I believe it's time that we hear the views of someone different, rather than the talking points of politicians.

Summary of Sy Rogers story is that basically, hee used to live the homosexual lifestyle and had even signed up for a sex-change operation at Johns Hopkins University. However, thanks to people that refused to stop praying for him, Sy found Jesus and began his journey to God.

If you must, skip to the 19 minute mark, otherwise, I'd suggest taking some time and watching the whole video.

Obama Campaign Champions Government Dependency

Yesterday, President Obama's re-election campaign released an interactive web page (named The Life of Julia) that attempted to compare and contrast a future America under Barack Obama to a future America under Mitt Romney. In this interactive site, viewers can click through the life of a fictional character named Julia who is dependent on the government from age 3 to age 67 (and beyond of course). I have to admit, it was weird that Obama campaign didn't talk about the right her parents had to kill Julia before she was born (because human lives are obviously disposable).
