It's been a busy month, and I haven't had time to comment on much of any of it. Tonight I saw a story I thought was worth commenting on however. 

Foreign Policy is reporting that Germany and Brazil are teaming up to "restrain American spies" via the United Nation. The first step of this was that today they, "joined forces to press for the adoption of a U.N. General Resolution that promotes the right of privacy on the internet."

It's been a long time since Republicans have been forced to stand on principle. Year after year, in election after election, Republicans have been all to willing to compromise their principles in order to gain an electoral victory. This capitulation was seen with Bob Dole, George Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney. Welcome to October

October ranks among my favorite months of the year.

The arrival of October invariably means that winter (my hands down favorite seasons of the year) is right around the corner. The weather cools to be just right, and the leaves begin to change colors. The whole country is plunged into a temperate, hazy, relaxed melancholy. People come out of their air-conditioned hidey-holes, and the streets, sidewalks, porches, parks and city come alive.
